If you have a website that you have been working on as a lover of SEO or you are an SEO professional not wanting to waste your time on hunches or ideas portrayed to you by bloggers, spammers of whom have targeted you with unsolicited email campaigns then read no further.
In this next section I will try to explain and make clear the fundamentals when approaching on-page optimization site speed, mobile optimisation, website coding errors and warning and image optimization.
This will give you a very good overview of where you are at in terms of SEO fundamentals, social media and site speeds
Is all you need is speed to win in the world of SEO
the simple answer is no I have clicked upon many websites that made me think wow that is slow, but they are ranking very highly! Why is that? Yes it is true that Google and users alike do not like slow loading websites. Especially if you live at the end of the broadband or ADSL line. However if the content and the traffic to that site outweighs this one limiting factor it will still feature very high. But this is not the norm. When I look at optimizing a website I look at the websites speed, page size and then the time it takes to render the web page first and foremost and then I ensure that the websites site speed is not the primary or one of the many limiting factors that is holding the website back.
Yes and no, warnings are generally bad and errors in quantity can be bad also. Lots of spammers who target your email addresses with SEO hopes will often report on that they found substantial errors and or warning in your website. Well if you can find me a website without errors I can find you thousands with errors. And most No.1 ranking websites (for their keywords) will have errors and many will have errors and warnings. Again errors and warnings along with site speed can be one of many dozens of reasons why your website is not ranking highly but it is not likely to take you from page 3 to the top of page 1. In my experience it is enough to move you up at most 6-10 places depending on numerous other factors. But if you have been reading carefully, as you will know know, there may have been other limiting factors.
Again as described above I like to make certain that this is not a limiting factor to my website's page ranking but if I am to be honest I am less worried about code quality as to pagespeed. HOWEVER Unless I spot something that does not look right. This is where you need to be careful, some coding errors can be costly to the page speed aswell and some can be absolutely dangerous. Some can affect user interfaces and some can get you thrown out of Google. I nearly did this once by accidentally looping content that I had linked to. Initially I was on cloud 7 looking at the amount of hits I was getting but then realized I had accidentally created a continuous circular link loop that when people accidentally clicked on it they were then being sent around and around and around. Luckily I spotted it and corrected the error before anything bad happened but this may make you aware of how dangerous simple coding errors can be.
So in short, check your coding issues, especially the ones that are coming up as warnings but if nothing sticks out as being funny or is linked to a particular lengthy rendering process you can possibly ignore them for the main part.
In short it's not going to make you an overnight success but if you know your website is as error free as can be it gives you a sense of achievement and maybe a mini fist pump! when you get your W3C Validator Badge.

Mobile optimization and their benefits in the handheld search world
Google's deployment of the mobile specific search is not in full motion yet. They have had a few teething difficulties but with the number of mobile and tablet searches now hitting 40% + and set to rise even further I think not jumping on the gravy train now would be a big SEO mistake. It will happen eventually and if not fully desktop searches will take into account, which apparently they already do to some extent, a websites mobile readiness or ability to deploy their content to different types of small screened devices.
